Eleven month old with sleep problems
07-09-2009
Q: I have read your book and was wondering if you could help me. I have an eleven month old daughter, Anna, who has developed sleep problems. In the first six months of her life, she slept in a cot next to our bed. She would always fall asleep with a bottle at 7pm. When she woke up during the night, I would hold her and she would fall asleep again quickly. When she was six months old, I moved her into her own room. She still fell asleep with a bottle. When she woke up at night, it was not so easy to get her back to sleep, and for my own sanity I would put her in bed with me and she would then go to...

Q: My 9 month old has always woken briefly at night, but we put his dummy in and he goes back to sleep. This was happening about 2 - 3 times a night. We didn't have to even pick him up, he'd go back to sleep. He recently got a cold and still has a few sniffles, but now sleeps well without waking from 6:30pm until 3am/3:30am every night. He starts crying and doesn't go back to sleep when we put his dummy in. Eventually we have to pick him up and only after about an hour does he go back to sleep properly until 6/6:30am. During this crying time his eyes are closed though? A: Your little one is not ready...

Meg Faure and Ann Richardson receive many requests for help with sleep problems. Here Meg Faure answers a very common question for babies between 6 and 12 months. Please can you help. My baby is 9 months old and has been an excellent sleeper and easy Baby Sense baby. However, I now have a problem with his sleeping. Firstly he is starting to develop some major attachment issues. He is constantly looking around for me and is like Velcro to me when he is tired or a little clingy. Anyway, when he sleeps during the day or at night he is extremely restless and wakes up almost every hour needing some soothing...

Q: I have read your excellent book and have followed all the recommendations. I have also ensured that the nursery is conducive to sleep and have removed all stimulating objects. However, my child is now 7 months old and is still not sleeping. We started to train him about 3 months ago and things have gotten progressively worse. He was only waking twice a night for his dummy, no longer for feeds and we felt that he should sleep through completely, particularly as he has slept through on several nights, which means he can do it. Now, since trying to train him, he wakes up to 4 or 5 times a night and...
