Hi Baby Sense Moms and Dads!
On a busy UK Facebook page, the Facebook administrator recently posted the most insensitive post about moms who don’t breastfeed. I was shocked and appalled at her position on the matter and watched as moms climbed on board and took her down. She had close to 500 responses that were all singing the same song - all similar to this one: “mothers should be working together not berating each other for choices they make. I'll be unliking this page as well.”
She lost 10% of her followers in one hour and started a real “mommy war”. I felt so sad because she clearly had missed the point. We are all in this mommy journey together. To judge another person on the grounds of their method of feeding is somewhere between stupid and insensitive.
Father’s Day is celebrated in June in most of the world. I am fascinated about why it is that Fathers don't seem to criticise other fathers in the same way – what’s that about? I think we need to take a page out of their book.
Here’s to great Dads, who help with the load, support their baby’s moms and never find the need to start a ‘Daddy war”.
Wishing all our Dads a wonderful Father’s Day!
