Burps

18Q: Our baby was 3 months old on 7 October and since about then she hardly burps at all when we try to get something out. Is it not necessary to do this anymore?

A: Babies of this age bring up their burps much more easily on their own. She is probably doing it herself now when lifted into an upright position after a feed. Many babies are quiet burpers. As a rule of thumb if the burp has not come up five minutes after a feed, don't pursue it - it will come out the other end. Pursuing a wind at all costs is more likely to result in an over stimulated baby than help bring up more wind.
