Implementing a bath routine

16Q: We do not have a fixed routine, as the nights feeding patterns determines when our first morning session starts, thereafter, it’s 4 hourly. So we don’t start our first feed at a specific time, but rather 4 hours until her last feed. This implies that there’s no fixed bath routine and we tend to bath her roughly any time between 7 and 8pm as her last afternoon feed is usually at about 3 or 4. Should we stick to a bath time and feed her afterward, regardless of when her last feed was? Also, should we start the morning feed at a specific time, regardless of when she fed during the evenings?

A: She is still so little, so I would suggest you go with the flow for now. From 3 mths of age, I suggest “kick starting” your day off in the morning, no later than 7 am, so there will be times when you may need to wake her to get your day going. Keep bath time reasonably flexible, depending on how your afternoon has been.
