Sleep Tip 2
Tip 2: 8 month olds often have a sleep ‘hiccup’ and start waking too often at night. One thing to rule out here is separation anxiety. At 8 months old, babies have not developed object permanence well and so they ‘call’ you back at night to make sure you are still there and still exist when they can’t see you. The best solution? A doodoo blanky - something your baby can attach to and reach for at night instead of waking you!

i am loving all the tips i receive, but have to say. my baby girl is 9.5 months old. she wakes VERY often at night, and mostly doesn’t want to drink when she wakes, so it’s not hunger or thirst. she sleeps in bed with hubby and me, so she’s not “missing” us. yes, she is teething, but i can’t give her meds all the time to “make her sleep” (as so many old ladies advise me to do, can you believe!). she isn’t hot or cold and has plenty of space to sleep. but she rolls around and around and around and i’m really starting to feel the strain of too little sleep now. any other advice of things i can look out for, maybe?
Thanks for the question, Margaret, I will respond to this in the tip today.
I have a 10 month old boy. He sleeps well during the day, eats healthy & drinks well during the day. He goes to bed +/- 19:00, only to wake at 23:00 for a milk bottle & then goes back to sleep until +/- 01:00 from there onwards he will be awake hourly, taking only a few sips from his bottle and going back to sleep or refusing his bottle entirely. I pat him back to sleep only to be waken 20 min later with the same result. Please give some advise….
Hi Laurika
Have his ears checked carefully; don’t change his nappy at night; introduce a sleep blanky of sorts so he will use that to fall asleep; make sure he has enough protein during the day.

Hi Meg
A Baby Sense fan wrote in this week about her babies taglets. Here is her story:
My daughter is 20 months old. She still very much needs her “blanky” when its time to sleep. She has a few of them, but I always keep a newish, nice (clean!) one in my handbag. Her home ones look a bit grubby. I keep “my” one for when we go out - at least its more presentable! Last week we lost her nice one somewhere is the shopping mall. The store that I usually buy them from did not have any. So I was pleased to find them your online store and now I feel relaxed about having a nice spare one again.
